Jesuit Church
Jesuitenkirche · 1666
The story
Built between 1666 and 1677, the Jesuit Church was the first large Baroque church in Switzerland, modelled on the Gesù church in Rome. It is dedicated to Saint Francis Xavier. Step inside: the bright white and pink stucco and the gold make it feel like a ballroom more than a church. The two onion-domed towers on the river side were only finished in 1893.
